Textbook Prices 2005

The 2005 Consumer Affairs Commission’s (CAC) Annual Textbook Survey findings reveal minimal price increases this year consistent with last year. The majority of increases in 2005 fell within the 1% to 15% band with very few increases up to 30% and only three (3) textbooks over 30%. This was a similar situation in 2004 when prices revealed increases in the range of 1% to 20% with few increases over 40%. Also, there were minimal reductions on some titles with the average prices indicating stability in prices that may be attributed to the net 1% devaluation of the Jamaican Dollar relative to the US Dollar over the period of July 2004 to July 2005.
